Unexpected Heartbreak: Eddie's Journey of Sibling Loss and Grieving

I
n this episode of The Broken Pack: Stories of Sibling Loss, a podcast, two mental health practitioners, Eddie Cruz and Dr. Angela Dean  explore  sibling loss, mental health approaches to grief, and challenges in grieving when family dynamics and opinions collide.

Eddie shares his personal experience of losing his brother, Richard, to a sudden heart attack and the challenges of navigating grief in a culture that often dismisses or stigmatizes open expression of emotions.

Eddie Cruz shares the emotional toll of his brother, their relationship, what it meant to lose him, as well as how that impacted his work, his life, and so much more. Dr. Dean and Eddie explore how differing views on funeral customs and ceremonies within the family impacted his initial mourning, ongoing grieving, and certain relationships within the family as well as how he has been able to find and provide support.
